Casa del sole’s Weblog

Hello, my name is Jessica. I am an American WWOOFer (Worldwide Workers on Organic Farms) and I am currently at Casa Del Sole and loving it. This is my first experence as a WWOOFer and my first trip to Italy. Casa Del Sole has been a blessing and the people could not be nicer! We work very hard but eat well and there is a lot of time to sing and meditate. My first few days here we where clearing the olive grove for in about two weeks it will be time to harvest. Every Saturday Massimo and Barbara sell fresh organic vegetables at the Market in Genova. During the rest of the week when we are not preparing for Market we do other odd jobs around the house such as weeding the garden, fixing the roads, baking homemade breads and tortas (Italian cakes) as well as preparing the house for guests. During the summer months the upstairs part of the house is transformed into a B&B.  We recently hosted 11 people for an overnight retreat. The next morning a monk lead the group in a yoga and meditation session. Massimo and Barbara always have new and exciting ideas on how to make this place better. Massimo wants to make space for more WWOOFers and campers to stay outdoors during the warmer seasons. He has plans for and outdoor bathroom even. There is a lot of oppertunity and creativity going on here and it is worth looking into. I myself have enjoyed my time here so much I am planning on staying longer!
